Since I imagine many of us are experiencing some stress regarding Assignment 1, I'd like to share a quote. A former professor of mine, Jim Deitrick, once told me that when he was a graduate student he and his fellows came up with a motto:
Sometimes done is better than good.
Sounds about right to me.

Thanks for the quote, your former prof must be a very wise man!
ReplyDeleteEver noticed how you can spend forever making something about an assignment better? I decided a few years ago that the key to success as a student is recognizing the difference between good and 'good enough.' In order to be done, you just have to reach 'good enough.' This is especially important when one has a deadline to meet. (And I've noticed that assignments I work really hard on over a few days and assignments that I'm forced to throw together in a few hours usually get similar grades.)
I appreciate your quote , especially since today is over and I was up till 1pm last night only to discover at 11:50 today that I had posted everything in the wrong place! Dr. Oguz is goin wonder what he is dealing with!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd to that I'd add: I'd rather be lucky than good. I can't remember where I heard that, but if you think about it...it could come in handy. Even if you're good you could be unlucky, therefore...
ReplyDelete"An assignment is not finished, just submitted." A quote from my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI work better under pressure.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I keep telling myself...in order to avoid calling myself a procrastinator.
