The RSS Feed Trough

After spending several hours digging a garden out of my backyard with my hands, a yard rake, and a conveniently located stick (as well as promoting future carcinoma on my back, shoulders, and face) I sat down to try and figure out the whole RSS feed assignment.

I think I managed to bumble through the process. The URL for the feed is http://feeds.rapidfeeds.com/36616/ I'm getting the sense that I missed out something, however, as I never figured out how to set the feed's URL to contain the blog title (e.g., http://feeds.rapidfeeds.com/librarytechlog/ or something similar). Honestly, I'm just excited to have gotten the assignment completed. I guess I can now say I'm "syndicated." ;-)

One question on this thing: Does anyone know why we would want to go through rapid feeds to subscribe to each others' blogs rather than just signing up to be "followers" on the blog sites?

  1. Well, I think it is probably a learning exercise. But what does the RSS do? I kind of know but I am not seeing it in anything we have done so far? It's like a running feed but where?

  3. Igot my RSS going too, I was so excited. Your blog looks great, very professional. I tried doing a Bliget (did I spell that right) that would link up with my Facebook, but I couldnt get it to work. I am finding that I easily could sit and play with this stuff for hours. I find it easy to get divertied into other things.

  4. Yes, the garden is a vegetable/herb combo...though as much as anything else, it's turned into a salad bar for the local wildlife;-)

  5. Thanks for the compliments on the blog. After starting and eliminating 7 or 8 blogs over the last few years, I ought to have learned something. lol.

I've never heard of Bliget (see, Dr. Oguz has his work cut out for him;-) Sorry it didn't work for you. All the stuff I've put on my blog are gadgets available through Blogger itself. Just go to your dashboard and click on the tab that says Layout. It should show you an outline of your page and give you the option in various boxes to "add a gadget".
Click on that and it will give you a gazillion different options to personalize your blog.

  6. Hello - Great Blog! I know about starting different blogs and websites too. I think I still have several partially started webpages out there I can't even find anymore - much less delete.
Okay, the rss feed thing. I think I got it. You need to go through the rapidfeeds process to get an orange "live" rss feed on your blog page. Then when I go to your blog I just click on the orange rss and subscribe and now your blog shows up under my favorites/feeds. But I guess I still need to manually put you in my google reader to get current updates. Ouch!! My head hurts and I don't even know if what I just wrote makes sense.

  7. What do you put in Rapid Feeds to get the orange button on the blog page? I tried to figure it out, but have been unable to produce any changes so far.

  8. I also have several blogs, I don't post on, and right now the garden calls me at least twice a day. Have some pepper plants to transplant. My basil and thyme seeds seemed to sprout overnight, lettuce is bolting and squash has blooms but no squash.
